TITLE: Member Service Specialist

REPORTS TO: Operations Officer or CEO

Purpose

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations. Support sales efforts. Perform transactions related to all share and loan products. Consistently provides high-quality member service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opening new accounts and servicing change requests for existing accounts.

  • Issue and scan account documents and membership information.

  • Order checks and debit cards when applicable.

  • Cross-selling credit union products and services based on an understanding of the needs of each member.

  • Assist with closing accounts.

  • Providing back-up support to member service representatives including cash drawer management, daily balancing, check scanning and transmission.

  • Providing back-up to member service representatives by responding to email or other transaction requests including loan/credit card payments, share withdrawals, check requests, account balances, etc.

  • May function as a vault teller in ordering cash, balancing, etc.

  • Receive and prepare wire transfer requests.

  • Maintaining an understanding of the debit and credit card systems and serving as the point of contact for all plastic card-related member inquiries.

  • Maintaining an understanding of the IRA system opening individual retirement share accounts, IRA certificates, and member share certificates.

  • Assist members by researching account discrepancies for deposit, withdrawal, and loan payments.

  • Assist with completion of payroll deduction, direct deposit, ACH, and transfer authorizations.

  • Participate in the development of marketing promotions.

  • Review closed loans ensuring that each is properly documented, disbursed, and filed.

  • Assist with month-end reporting in various areas including GAP, credit disability/credit life insurance, E-Lien, and tracking of auto insurance coverage.

  • Ensure that all information regarding credit union members is kept confidential.

  • Ensure that management is kept fully informed on any issues of importance in the operations of the credit union.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Fulltime up to 40 hours weekly

  • One to three years experience in the banking environment

  • Windows computer literacy, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and/or as part of a team

  • Ability to sit at a computer and/or stand for long periods of time. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
